About Steve
“I’ve always been struck by his solos. He tells a story with his exquisite note choices. I can’t wait to hear what’s next!”
—John Temmerman, saxophonist, composer, bandleader
Steve Thomas is a bandleader and versatile sideman. A University of Illinois grad, he has played trumpet with big bands, jazz combos, Latin groups, and blues bands in Chicago since 1981, including performances and recordings with his jazz quartet House of Windsor, Bill “Buddha” Dickens, Samuel DelReal, Old Town School of Folk Music, Pete Special, Voodoo Gumbo, Eddie Harrison, Ty Cooper, Steve Hashimoto, John Temmerman, and many others.
Thomas also doubles on electric bass and vocals and has performed a broad selection of rock covers with GASP and Fritzel Logic. As a leader Thomas favors mainstream jazz and swing, but his extensive repertoire can be easily tailored to a client’s preferences to style, favorite artists, or time period.
